NAAC B+ VTMNSS College has to its credit four decades of relentless and meritorious service and it has ample justification to make the claim of being a centre of academic excellence. As a result of the dedicated and unstinted efforts by the staff and students of the college, the NAAC has conferred upon it the covetable B+ grade in the year 2003. Drawing inspiration and guidance from the observations made by the peer team of the NAAC, the entire faculty and student community are engaged in a ceaseless endeavour to upgrade and update the infra-structure and academic aspects of the college. As the only centre of higher education the locality, the mission of our institution is to, impart education, disseminate knowledge and serve as a platform to promote skills, technology and culture. It also focuses on inculcating moral values in students so that they would be morally upright and socially committed and help to create a better society.

IQAC AND QAC As per the guide lines of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is functioning for the co-ordination of Post accreditation quality sustenance activities in the college. There is a Quality Advisory Committee (QAC) under the chairmanship of the principal to give proper guidance to the IQAC. It consists of members representing different departments/ faculties/ administrative and library departments, besides representatives of the management, PTA; as well as local public.
LIBRARY AND READING ROOM The college has a centralized library with a rich stock of relevant books and journals and a spacious reading room under the charge of a librarian. The books have been catalogued and classified subject wise. Separate sections are allotted to each of the departments. In order to facilitate the borrowing of books, the library has been digitalized. The library, the computer laboratory and the various departments are linked through net- working.

COMPUTER CLUB & INTERNET LIBRARY The Computer club of the college provides computer awareness programmes/ training to students and staff as part of linking curriculum with computer and IT facilities. The departments of the college including the office and the principal's chamber are connected through LAN (Local Area Network). It also offers Computer literacy programmes and IT courses to for the staff and students. |

National Cadet Corps There is a senior division ARMY wing unit (Boys and Girls) in the college. The unit is attached to IV Kerala Bn N.C.C.Neyyattinkara. National Service Scheme
Two units of the National Service Scheme have been functioning in our college since 1972. The sanctioned strength of volunteers is 200. Participation in the scheme is open to both boys and girls. After the successful completion of two years service under the scheme a volunteer is entitled to a certificate issued by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kerala. The certificate helps the volunteer in obtaining an additional credit of 30 marks in competitive examinations and 15 marks to seek admission to higher classes. The scheme is primarily designed to make the students aware of the socio-economic issues of society and the basic human aspirations and also to give them an an opportunity for social service.

Placement and Career Guidance Cell The academic year 2006-07 opened a new chapter was opened in the history of VTM NSS College by starting a placement and employment guidance cell. Entrepreneurship Club The department of Commerce pilots an Entrepreneurship Club. It conducts various Entrepreneurship training programmes for the benefit of UG & PG students. Co-ordinator : Dr. K .Manoharan Nair, Reader in Commerce.
Grievance Redressal Cell The Grievance Redressal Cell looks in to the grievances of the staff and students and takes appropriate measures to redress them.
Forestry Club Forestry Club is affiliated to the Forest Information Bureau, Forest Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram. It aims at inculcating in the students the habit of planting trees and thereby conserving our planet.
Health Club
There is an active Health Club under the aegis of the Department of Zoology which conducts beneficial programmes that cater to the needs of the staff and students.
COLLEGE COUNCIL The administration of the college is controlled by the Council. The College Council is constituted with the Heads of Departments, four elected representatives of the teaching staff, the Administrative Assistant and the Librarian of the college. The principal is the president of the council and the secretary is elected from among its elected members. The secretary notifies the council meetings, and maintains the records of the meetings. PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION
An association of parents and Teachers was organized on 19.8.1979. It aimed at improving the discipline, progress and the successful functioning of the college. COLLEGE CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY
Velu Thampi Memorial NS.S College Co-operative Society Ltd. No. T. 259 was formed on 17.7.1964 by the staff and students of the college with a small share capital to supply text books, note books and stationery to the students. The society has come a long way and it now owns a printing press which undertakes all kinds of printing and binding works. An employees’ Co-operative society was registered in 1974 to give credit facilities to the staff of the college. The society also successfully runs a store.
COLLEGE CANTEEN The College Canteen is a veritable boon. It provides meals and snacks at concessional rates to both staff and students. functions smoothly and supplies midday meals and refreshments to the students and staff at concessional rate.
ENDOWMENTS AND AWARDS(A) NSS KANAKAJUBILEE LOAN SCHOLARSHIP The objective of the scholarship is to enable poor and deserving students of outstanding merit to pursue their education.
(B) MANNAM NIDHI N.S.S.LOAN SCHOLARSHIP The scholarship aims at giving young and dynamic students a chance to seek avenues of advanced studies and research. The committee awards about five scholarships every year. The value of the scholarships will vary according to the course for which they are offered.
(C) PROF. K. NARAYANAKURUP ENDOWMENT K.Narayana Kurup Endowment is being awarded every year to the final year B.Sc., Physics Main Student of this college who scores the highest marks for the main and subsidiary subjects taken together at the University Examinations.
(D) Dr. S.V. SATHEESAN NAIR MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT It was instituted in memory of Dr. S.V. Satheesan Nair, who was a former student of this college. An amount of Rs.20, 000/- has been contributed by the members of his family. The annual interest accruing on this amount is equally divided among two students, who score the highest marks in B.Sc., Degree examination with Botony and Zoology as their main subjects each, every year from this college.
(E) P.T.A. AWARDS AND PRIZES Cash awards are given by the PTA to the students who pass the final year B.A. / B.Sc./ B.Com./ PG/ Degree Examination from the college with the highest marks in their subjects of study. The PTA encourages and motivates students who excel in sports and arts by giving them cash awards.
